Aph·ro·di·te, \ˌaf-rə-ˈdīt-ē,\ Greek mythological character. Aphrodite was the ancient Greek goddess of sexual love, fertility, and beauty. In Greek mythology Aphrodite was renowned for her mortal lovers, who included Adonis and Anchises. By the latter, she became the mother of Aeneas. Aphrodite was identified by the Romans with Venus.
