Cross-References
Three different kinds of cross-references are used in this dictionary: synonymous, cognate, and inflectional. In each instance the cross-reference is readily recognized by the boldface arrow following the entry word.
Synonymous and cognate cross-references indicate that a definition at the entry cross-referred to can be substituted for the entry word:
scapula → shoulder blade
amuck . . . → amok
An inflectional cross-reference is used to identify the entry word as an inflected form of another word (as a noun or verb):
fue, etc. → ir, ser
mice → mouse
